Rangi Ruru Girl’s School Sports Centre
Part of the post-earthquake redevelopment plan, the centre replaces the original gym built in 1976.
The new state-of-the-art facility features multi-purpose sports courts with mezzanine seating, PE, health and sports department offices, learning spaces, and a fitness centre. It also allows the school and broader community to easily come together for assemblies, conferences, events and performances.
The curved design of the new sport and multi-purpose centre, Atawhai, at Rangi Ruru Girls' School speaks to the school’s name, which means “wide sky shelter”. The design features a statement façade mimicking constellations in the night sky.
