Newhaven Junior School
The project represented the objectives of the Gillard government in 2009 by delivering significant benefits to education, community and Government, in perhaps Victorias best value BER funded Junior School project.
The Newhaven College Board seized the opportunity to construct a new single stream school for Year P-6 with capacity to grow and evolve as demand for place at the school continues to grow.
It is a sustainable solution, carefully tailored to the harsh environment on Phillip Island with fully enclosed, semi-enclosed and sheltered quadrangle spaces linking the learning pods. The use of rammed earth and timber, effective natural ventilation and light, rainwater harvesting and thermal mass are all woven into this design solution that was the second major project on the 82 acre campus at Newhaven.
