Ivanhoe Grammar Sports & Aquatic Centre

Currently under construction, The Ivanhoe Grammar Sports & Aquatic Centre, will be a first class facility for health and wellbeing for the school and wider community.

The building includes a 50 metre pool, with variable depth floor for learn to swim and a movable boom for various modes of use, four multi-purpose basketball/netball courts and associated amenities. In addition, teaching spaces, gymnasium and multi-purpose rooms cater for all round student learning and wellbeing.

Located to the southern side of the school oval, along Ivanhoe’s iconic Boulevard, the building steps down the steep and into the site, over 6 levels. Strict height restrictions, and an ambitious brief led the design team to bury a large part of the building underground and provide a trafficable roof for additional sports courts and passive play. This opened spectacular views beyond the site for both users of the facility and the rest of the campus and ensured the building sat comfortably within its context.
